Campus Progressives Meeting
4/3/01
- The officials are:
- Chairperson: Sheila Ketabian (Chair)
- Vice Chairperson: Justin Smith (VChair)
- Treasurer: Jennifer Duquette
- Secretary: Andrew Forrester
- Commisioner of
Public Relations: David Murray (CoPR)
- Justin and Jennifer were voted in during the meeting by a hand vote. All candidates ran unopposed.
- "Campus Progressives" is still unapproved by "The Top."
- Sheila and David will take care of final paperwork.
- We plan to have a "Campus Progressives" rally early next year at the speakers' platform in front of the Book Store for the purposes of raising interest and membership. Ideas:
- Each person in the club could be assigned to a topic to talk about for about 5-10 minutes.
- We could invite any professors or guests to speak as well.
- People could be standing on the fringes to take names and e-mail addresses and talk about the club.
- National Right of Return Conference discussed again. (October 2001)
- Newspapers (Changelinks) from the Long Beach Peace Network disbursed. Meeting discussed a bit.
- Petition papers, given to us by the California Clean Money Campaign, discussed.
- We informally voted to endorse the Campaign.
- Each person given a petition paper was "assigned" to get 8 signatures.
- Events:
- Protest against the Death Penalty. (Sat, May 19?)
- Peace Network Meeting. (Fri, April 6)
- Notes:
- We should mention special events on the fliers we post around campus so people will take more interest when reading the fliers. For example, "Special Speaking Guest ..." or "Video."
