3 NOVEMBER 2005
IN ATTENDANCE:
Xochitl, Angelica, Elisa, Connie, Kris, and Sean
AGENDA:
1) The High Cost of Low Price, when should we screen the new Greenwald film? Closer to X-Mas? The MCC holds 40-50 people, MCC suggested. Xochitl has a friend with an advanced copy. I believe Wal-Mart went out of their way to make a counter documentary, yeah they can go through some other group to get that screened.
2) Loose Change, same deal, when and where? Connie is on top of this one.
3) A professor has asked the CP to talk to his class about, well, the CP, conversion begins at 6:30pm in the SPA (room #?) on November 10th-Who's in other than Connie and Xochitl? I might be able to make it but am not the best public speaker.
4) During International Education week, Linda is looking for volunteers to wake up at the we hours of 7am to help with the Arlington West Exhibit on Nov. 16th, contact llevy@csulb.edu to let Linda know you're up for it.
5) There will be a table open for the "World Famous" Campus Progressives, and a free lunch for who ever sits there on Tuesday the 15th from 11-1pm. Just like normal tabling you sign people up to our email list, talk them out of their pre-conceived notions of radicalism, and there should be fliers to hand out. Kris boldly volunteered, but two would be better.
6) I handed out Postcards for Victoria's Dirty Secret, Connie will leave signed ones for me at our Maxon cubicle, where I will pick them up and take them to Barbara Boxer's office and hand them to Tara who will then place our objections in a nice big manilla envelope and give them to Environment First, USC PIRGs chapter who will then mail them to Victoria's Secret HQ where every recycled fiber-postcard will be shredded and used for catalogues instead of the Boreal trees. You see, the system works.
7) Iraq Open Mic is on at last! November 29th, Tuesday from 10-2pm. I found the PRC confirmation slip in our mailbox, I guess Event Planning forgot to drop it off when they claimed they did. So now that it's a go, there are no more restrictions on whatever anyone wants to do with it. Anyone let anyone know about it, we should go to different organization meetings and recruit different voices. Elisa raised the threat of dead-air, so if any of you want to let me know of a timeslot someone wants to reserve just email me here or call my cell-714-276-5142 if someone has a speaker they want to bring, etc... I still plan on a first come first serve sign-in sheet policy but I want to make sure every timeslot is filled and we get as many eclectic voices as possible. Thu Ha you, get your women ready. If someone knows any victims of the war personally, bring em out. Slam Poetry, raps, all kinds welcome. Should we extend the time someone has to speak to 5 minutes? If anyone has any flier ideas other than the one I sent, which printed out very dark, go right ahead and draft one (it must have the date, time, place of event, campus progressives name, and my email contact info sduenser@csulb.edu or cell#), we can post different kinds all over the school, I only say that you don't make copies until I get it approved at SLD so we can copy a master copy from the copy that has the approval stamp on the copy. Leave them in the Maxon cubicle, or email them to the group. I plan on balloning a color version of the artwork I made to put in front of the Speaker's platform (where can I do that, Kinkos?). I will also need someone's help moving and setting up PA system, amplifier, mic equipment Dr. Kortheuer has reserved and one table and 2 or 3 chairs from the MCC. Xochitl has a kitchen timer to get the speaker's attention if she/he's going over and I will hold a yellow or quite possible a red card upon 30 seconds warning, then will lead the next person on-deck to speak. Any other input, please let me know and thank you all for your equal involvement, it's much appreciated.
8) Next CP meeting will be held in the Maxon Center, why? Well, we have a lot of events comming up and bunches of stuff to create, so Connie suggested we make it a poster and flier outing, good call.
