PROPAGANDA::: "KEY ISSUES"

Key Issues

Democracy in the USA and Abroad. Where is it going? How have recent events jeopardized freedom and political progress in the United States and other countries? What can we do to help make our government more responsive to the people, and how do misconceptions and the media contribute to forming opinions?

Social Issues. Police brutality, labor and labor unions, economic insecurity, crime, racism, public education, healthcare, extreme poverty in the third world (and the fact that there is a third world), family planning, mental health, the death penalty, social welfare (as well as corporate welfare), women's issues and rights around the globe, the environment, cultural issues, wealth, deindustrialization, human rights abuses, euthanasia, public transportation, and misconceptions.

Political Issues. Global trade agreements, campaigns and elections (procedure, corruption, turnout, finance), oppression, injustice in the legal system, corruption in politics, the media, monopolies and corporate oligarchies, state censorship, war and conflict, political polarization and mass depoliticized populations, the United Nations, youth and politics, economic sanctions (Iraq, Iran, Cuba, etc.) and how they affect populations, foreign policy in the USA, deregulation, oplitical refugees, socialism, exploitation of labor, nuclear weapons, public security an safety, military overspending, terrorism and propaganda, political parties and why third parties are excluded, new paradigms, the U.S. Supreme Court, George W. Bush's presidency (and his "selection"), current events, organizations, and reform movements.

Cultural Issues. The global economy and its effects on small indigenous populations, immigration, discrimination, religious conflicts, "Americanization" and how it is affecting diversity, pop culture, media stereotypes, and more.

We hope to raise awareness about many of these issues and plan and participate in events concerning them, as to help gain support and momentum for political and social progression that benefits all of humanity and not just the privileged elite. We hope to encourage civic participation and social activism in order to revive and reinstate a true democracy, in which all citizens enjoy political power, freedom, and opportunity.
