The goal of the Nikkei Student Union or NSU, is to enrich students lives with Japanese American Culture in a way that is fun, simple and interesting. What does the word "nikkei" mean? A general interpretation would mean someone of Japanese heritage/decent. But in no way does anyone have to be Japanese to join.

Here, students can come to learn various Japanese traditions, holidays, activities and much more. In addition, we also participate in other campuses activities giving students a way to meet people from other universities. If you have any questions, feel free to stop by one of the monthly meetings and see what we're all about or you can ask us through the website.

Joining NSU is a very simple process. Just come to any meeting during the year and sign up. At our meetings we discuss upcoming events, possible outings and share any new idea’s for NSU.
This is the time to meet everyone in the club, make new friends, ask questions, or just see what NSU is all about. NSU is welcome to anyone and everyone.

Our meetings are held monthly on the first Tuesday of the month. For this semester, our meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and end roughly around 6 to 7 o'clock. Each meeting is held in the the Student Union room #305. At each meeting we provide food for anyone willing to come. Hope to see you there.

If you decide to become an offical member of NSU, we require you to pay a $7 membership fee to join. This contribution to NSU’s funds helps us organize events that require money. All of the funds are tracked by the NSU Treasurer so you know where the money is, where it is going and how it is spent. However, we are all college students and if you have any financial problems we are always able to work things out.
