After graduating from the University of California at Berkley, Dr. Rhea Seddon, Lambda, was selected in 1978 as one of the first six women accepted to NASA's astronauts' corps. As a mission specialist, Dr. Seddon has logged more than 722 hours in space during her three flights: Space Shuttle Mission STS-58, Space Shuttle Mission STS-40 (41), and the Space Shuttle Mission 51-D. Her very first mission was aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery of 1985. As she ventured off on her flight into space, Rhea took her Sigma Kappa badge with her. Then in 1997, Rhea retired from NASA, but is now the assistant Chief Medical Officer of the Vanderbilt Medical Group in Nashville Tennessee. She will always be appreciated for her time served at Vanderbilt University's Center for Space, Physiology, and Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee.
Anna Harper, Lambda, was inducted into the California Women Athletes Hall of Fame. She was a Wimbledon tennis champion in 1931 and has won other numerous state and national tennis championships. Anna served as national president of Sigma Kappa from 1939-1942.
Renee Duprel, a 1985 initiate of Mu chapter at University of Washington, was an Olympic Cyclist. She continues to cycle in the Pacific Northwest and is on the Board of Directors of the The Marymoor Velodrome Association in Redmond, Washington.
Fay Burnett, Sigma, was the first nutritionist for Weight Watchers International. She wrote their first maintenance plan. Thousands used it as a guide to maintain their normal weight after their proper weight loss.
Lauren Roman joined the cast of All My Children in May, 1995, originating the role of troubled young runaway Laura Kirk English. She also appeared on an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Lauren was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and raised primarily in Great Falls, Virginia. She spent two years at the University of Virginia, where she was a member of the Theta Zeta Chapter.
Kerri Jill Garbis, a 1993 graduate of Epsilon Chapter at Syracuse University, went on the National Tour of "Singin' in the Rain" playing the role of Lina Lamont.
Maitland Ward, actress on Boy Meets World and formerly of CBS's The Bold and Beautiful, was an active sister in the Gamma Theta Chapter at California State University, Long Beach.

Margaret Chase Smith, Alpha, was the first U.S. woman senator, first woman to sit in both houses of Congress, recipient of the U.S. Air Force's most prestigious award, the American Spirit Award, in recognition of her contributions as "a great American patriot." She was a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award presented by President George Bush in July 1989.
Anitra Mohl, a make-up artist from Manhattan Beach, is proud to call California State University Sacramento's Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Kappa her home away from home. She appeared on ABC's The Bachelor and made it to the top five.
Sarah Weddington, Zeta Nu, is an attorney and spokesperson on public issues and leadership. In 1972 she became the first woman elected from Austin to be a member of the Texas House of Representatives. Sarah served three terms as a representative before becoming assistant to President Jimmy Carter. Sarah is well-known for her work on issues affecting women in her role as an attorney, as a legislator, as a professor and as an expert called upon by the national media. Her first book, A Question of Choice, detailed the Roe v. Wade case which she argued before the U.S. Supreme Court and won in 1973.
Tara Tucker was chosen as the 2002 Miss Alabama USA. Tara is an alumna of the Theta Xi chapter at Auburn University, and can often be found volunteering for the American Cancer Society and the ChildrenŐs Hospital Diabetes Foundation.
