Vaccination and Medical Information

Students who are planning to attend CSULB should take mandatory vaccines before coming to USA. During CIE check-in students have to submit their immunization records in English. Usually the required vaccines are given in selected government hospitals in all Indian cities. One can consult their family doctor for these vaccinations. Bring your immunization records signed by your doctor.


The following immunizations are required:
  • MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella): You have to take two doses of MMR.
  • TB (Tuberculosis) test : You have to take the TB skin test before coming to USA. You have to provide SHS with documentation of a TB test from your doctor, if completed within the past 3 months.
  • Hepatitis B : If you are of age 18 or younger you need to get the hepatitis vaccinations done from India.
  • Meningitis : If you are planning to stay on-campus in residence halls you have get this vaccination done.

During CIE Check-In, student health services (SHS) will provide immunizations and TB tests to students as required by the University at additional cost to the students. Bring your immunization records signed by your doctor.

Get some medicines for common problems such as cough, cold, etc. If you have some known problem, get proper prescription and medicines for that. Airport officials may question you for the medicines, have some prescriptions signed by your family doctor to justify your medication. Bring information regarding your medical history, including immunization records.
