Expenses and money to be carried
The students coming to CSULB for FALL 09 should take care of the following expenses other than the tuition fee.As it is really tough to get on campus jobs in the coming semester, try to get money to cover your monthly expenses for atleast one semester.
Tuition fee structure (Fall 2009)
The tuition fee depends on the number of units one take. For each graduate unit the fee is $372.Each course is counted as 3 units,so you have to pay $1116(3*372) per each course you take at graduate level.
The State university fee is $1612 if you take 0-6 units and $2653 if you take 7 units or more.
For example: If you take 9 units(3 courses) in the first semester, you have to pay $6001[(372*9)+2653]
Modes of Payment
University tuition fee can be paid:
- Online using Credit Card
- Using a Demand Draft(DD) in favor of CSULB.
- By Direct wire transfer from a Indian bank that maintains a correspondent relationship with Wells Fargo Bank.
Wires must be sent to:
Wells Fargo Bank N.A.,
550 California Street, 10th Floor,
San Francisco, CA 94104,U.S.A.
Routing number: 121000248.
Bank account number: 4944-839513.

The “Other Beneficiary” information is the name of the student and the student’s campus ID number (found on the admission letter). The “Other Beneficiary” information is very important and is required to match the wired funds to the correct student’s account. This process may take weeks & additional bank transfer fees may apply.
Other Expenses
The remaining money for other expenses can be carried in the form of traveller cheques(recommended). It is better you carry a little cash(we recommend not to carry cash more than $500).The other expenses include
- Health Insurance: Upon your arrival ,you have to pay your student health insurance,in order to remove hold on your account.
For more information on insurance visit "CSULB Health Insurance Requirement"
- If you are asked to attend EESL examination ,depending on the scores you get on the examination you are required to take extra english courses. For those courses you need to pay extra(aprox $711 for each course). For more info on this
visit "EESL and WPE"
- If you are willing to buy a laptop ,get sufficient money to buy one here.Laptops are cheap here compared to India.
- The Monthly Expenses range from $450-$550(including utilities) depending on the number of people you share your apartment with and your food habits.
We recommend students to carry a little cash( approx $500) with sufficient change. This money is sufficient for initial expenses like shuttle charges(airport to long beach) etc.
