Meetings for Spring 2007 are scheduled for Mondays at 3:30pm in the University Student Union, USU-307, except for on the following dates: March 5th, April 9th, and May 7th. Alternative locations for these dates will be announced.

Join us in the movement for human rights and social justice by participating in our on-campus rally, refusing to purchase anything on May 1st and supporting the nationwide economic boycott, and demanding a total change of priorities from the production of things to the caring for people and the environment. April 26th: Birdsong: Exploring the "coffee crisis" and its devastating effects on migratory songbirds, rainforest ecosystems, and 25 million coffee growers worldwide.

6:00pm at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center: KALAYAAN, a performance play by the Pilipino American Coalition of CSULB. $15 pre-sale, $20 at door. Keep an eye out for the performances by Sumiko and Jesus of the Progressives. **Organized by CSULB PAC.

The Progressives will tour the Long Beach wetlands, a unique environmental area that is highly desired by energy corporations and other companies who want to develop upon the land. The tour will begin at 12:00noon.
Monday, February 13, 2006 - CSULB campus Puvungna Land Discussion
The Repatriation Committee of the CSULB Academic Senate will be held at 7:00pm in the President's Conference room in the 3rd floor of Brotman Hall. Among the topics to be discussed is the Indian ancient village/burial grounds of Puvungna on the CSULB campus. Students are welcome to attend as we strategize on how to save the land.

"Arlington West Display: Reflection on the Iraq War" To date, over 2,000 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq. A "temporary cemetery" will erected in the Central Quad area (upper campus) with one grave marker for every soldier who has died. Documentaries "Arlington West" and "A Line in the Sand' will be shown continuously. By the Center for International Education, co-sponsored by the Progressives.

April 19th at the Karl Anatol Center (Library East 110): Award-winning documentary Testimony: The Maria Guardado Story shares the experiences of Salvadoran political refugee Maria Guardado, who escaped the death squads and now works as a human rights activist in Los Angeles. After-film discussion will be joined by special guests Maria Guardado and the film's director, Randy Vasquez.

February 28th, March 7th, and March 14th, 2005 at the Beach Auditorium, we will screen three different progressive films: "Instant-Mix Imperial Democracy," "Gaza Strip," and "Chavez: Venezuela and the New Latin America." Suggested donation $3, no one will be turned away. This is a joint effort between the CSULB and LBCC Campus Progressive groups.
