- WIN MONEY: Career Development Center's Annual Internship Essay Competition: Win up to $500 for writing about your experiences in practica or internship. Deadline is THIS FRIDAY, March 20, 5PM.
- DR. MELROSE: SPSA is pleased to announce a guest speaking event featuring Dr. Reggie Melrose! The talk will take place Monday, March 23, 7PM in LA2-200 (during Dr. Gamble's class).
- CALL FOR DESIGNS: SPSA is creating a t-shirt for our program and we need your artistic talents for a logo/design/clever saying/something! If you have a t-shirt idea that represents our program, please email it to Cam. We will post designs on the website and vote for our favorite.
- BOOK DRIVE: Donate a book to Franklin Classical Middle School (the site where our 1st years are being trained on the RtI grant) library. A collection bin will be placed in the Ed Psych Clinic soon, and list of "must have" books is to come...
- ATTN 2nd YEARS: As was announced in class, 2nd Years must re-apply to the University in order to enroll Fall 2009. Print and complete this application, and bring to Nancy McGlothin in ED1-7. (Instructions for application, just in case.)
- THESIS PROCRASTINATORS :) If you are submitting your thesis during the summer, remember to do the following:
- 1) Change your graduation date: Go to Brotman Hall, fill out the "Change of Graduation Date" form (fee $10)
- 2) Enroll in GS 700: Go to Extension Office outside of the Foundation Bldg. Get your Ed Psych advisor's signature (Dr. Hagans or Dr. Kim) on the enrollment slip. Submit paperwork before end of Spring semester. (course fee $220)
Mission Statement
The purpose of SPSA is to present California State University, Long Beach school psychology graduate students as a unified body in order to discuss issues and concerns that affect students, both professionally and academically; to increase communication between cohorts; to provide opportunities to develop and nurture leadership skills; to allow student mentorship and occasions for sharing relevant resources; to provide additional education and training in the field of school psychology; to institute a means to affect changes within the department/program; to sponsor speakers and extracurricular training; to establish links with professional organizations and school psychology professionals in the community; and to afford networking opportunities for school psychology graduate students.
