Officer Discriptions

President:

Requires two semesters involvement with SPS to obtain eligibility for office. Schedules and presides over meetings. All duties not performed by other officers become the responsibility of the President. As such, the President is the Disciplinarian. May choose to delegate tasks/duties to Vice President. Along with Vice President, must approve all formal actions taken by SPS organization. President also determines whether officer absences are excused.

Vice President:

Requires one semester involvement with SPS to obtain eligibility for office. Assists president in administrative role. Serves as main communications liaison for all other SPS officers. Reports all pertinent information from Treasurer/Secretary/members to President for review. Serves as council for President in all decision-making processes, but President reserves the right to make the final decision and consequently has primary responsibility. May delegate tasks/duties to other SPS officers (i.e. Treasurer and Secretary).

Treasurer:

Requires one semester involvement with SPS to obtain eligibility for office. Responsible for attending all meetings regarding potential sources of funding for SPS. Required to process and submit all necessary paperwork associated with the funding of SPS. Must submit a proposed budget to President and Advisor every semester. Performs all bookkeeping associated with current financial status of SPS; if money is spent, it must be recorded. At the end of each semester a record of spending through said semester should be submitted for review and record-keeping. Finally, the Treasurer is responsible for all liaison with the Financial Advisor of the Physics Department regarding financial matters.

Secretary:

Requires one semester involvement with SPS to obtain eligibility for office. Responsible for recording minutes and taking attendance at all SPS meetings with the exception of elections. Primary duties also include public relations including but not limited to advertising events and recruitment.

Webmaster:

Requires no previous involvement with SPS to obtain eligibility for office. Responsible for adding and maintaining content to the SPS website as well as the SPS Facebook Group. CNSM Ambassador:

Requires no previous involvement with SPS to obtain eligibility for office. Responsible for attending weekly College of Natural Science and Mathematics (CNSM) meetings. Must report information discussed at the meetings to the President within one week.
