ANDALE Scholars Program

Advancing Nutrition Development through Alliances for Leadership & Education Scholars Program
Academic year and summer externship research and mentoring opportunity for nutrition, health sciences and kinesiology students. Scholars participate in monthly professional development trainings and learning communities.

BISC This program trains advanced bachelors, post-baccalaureate, and masters students in the theory and techniques of stem cell research for the development of therapies. Ten interns will be selected annually to complete the paid second year of a two-year stem cell track of Biotechnology Certificate Program at CSULB. These interns will each receive a $30,000 stipend plus up to $7,000 tuition to perform full-time research on one of more than thirty laboratories at Cedars-Sinai, City of Hope, or UCI.

Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity
CSULB BUILD Program offers intensive research training opportunities for undergraduate students interested in pursuing a research career in health-related research. Health-related research uses innovative methods to examine the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases to improve health and wellbeing. It is conducted across a number of different disciplines (e.g., engineering and the behavioral, biological, clinical, physical, public health and social sciences) and can include basic, applied, and translational approaches to studying several health issues facing our communities and our nation.

CHAAT

Center for Human Factors in Advanced Aeronautics Technologies
Performs ongoing research to measure human performance in complex systems such as the Next Generation Airspace Transportation System (NextGen). We also participate in the training of the future workforce in aeronautics and other NASA-related disciplines, through the training of students in human factors

EB

Engineering Bridge
Program is offered to incoming freshmen as a Learning Community Cluster. This type of structure enhances the opportunity for students to build community among students, among student and faculty, and among faculty involved with these students. The goal of the program is to improve students' academic performance and increase their ability to graduate in four years. It is an academic year-long program commencing with the Summer Bridge Program in late August. Students who are accepted into EB will participate in a 5-day Summer Bridge residential program and continue through the academic year as a single cohort thru Fall and Spring. Freshman
Engineering Honors Program Offers an opportunity for academically successful and motivated students interested in completing their program of study in four years. In addition to honors-level courses, students will be engaged in the application of engineering through a year-long research project, culminating in a thesis. The purpose of this program is to prime students for success as practicing professionals in engineering industry as well as strengthen their potential success in graduate studies.

Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation
CSU-LSAMP is sponsored both by the National Science Foundation (HRD-1302873) and the California State University, providing a statewide program for the enhancement of math and science skills for students have faced or face social, educational or economic barriers, majoring in science, technology, mathematics and engineering (STEM). LSAMP at CSU Long Beach includes academic year research fellows, summer research fellows, and a summer calculus workshop for students preparing to take Calculus in the fall.

Training program offers an extraordinary opportunity for students seeking careers in biomedical research. It aims to increase the number of disadvantaged students populations (including: ethnic minority, students with disabilities and low-income students) who can successfully gain acceptance into graduate programs leading to the Ph.D. degree in a biomedical science (biology, chemistry, psychology, epidemiology and other social and behavioral sciences).

Psychology Honors Program Highly motivated Psychology undergraduate students who wish to obtain intensive and rigorous training in psychological research may to apply to the Psychology Honors Program (PHP). Students will complete an Honors Thesis, and participate in a series of four Psychology Honors courses over three consecutive semesters as well as other required advanced Psychology courses.
