What is OneDrive for Business?

OneDrive for Business is a service that provides “cloud” file storage for home use purposes, and provides ways to share and collaborate with anyone on files that are stored there. OneDrive for Business is not the same as the OneDrive service offered by Microsoft to individuals. For information on the differences, see How is OneDrive for Business different from OneDrive? on Microsoft’s Office Web site.

What can I do with OneDrive for Business?

  • Store data in the cloud
    • 10 GB maximum file size
  • Share and collaborate with anyone on files that are stored there.
  • Access files using web browsers or mobile devices.
  • Access files directly using Microsoft Office desktop applications from your Mac or PC.
  • Synchronize your local files with files in your OneDrive for Business document libraries (with appropriate client software installed).
  • Create and edit Microsoft Office files in the cloud with Office Web apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

How do I access my OneDrive for Business?

You can access your OneDrive for Business in one of two ways:

For more information on how to use your OneDrive for Business, please see the Using OneDrive for Business Guide.

What do I do if I accidentally delete a file that is stored in my OneDrive for Business?

You can recover a deleted file from OneDrive for Business by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the CSULB Single Sign-On page and log in with your CSULB employee ID number and password.
  2. Click on the OneDrive chiclet tile.
  3. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the window.
  4. Select Site Contents and open the Recycle Bin in the upper right corner of the window.
  5. Files and folders can be restored by clicking the box to the left of the desired file or folder and then selecting Restore Selection.
  6. Files remain in the Recycle Bin for 90 days. Once a file has been deleted from the Recycle Bin, it cannot be retrieved.

What happens when I am no longer a CSULB employee?

When you are longer a CSULB employee you will not be able to access any of the files stored in your OneDrive for Business.

  • If you are CSULB faculty, you will be able to access the files stored in your OneDrive for Business for 365 days after your separation.
  • If you are CSULB staff, you will lose access to the files stored in your OneDrive for Business immediately after your separation.
  • If you are a CSULB student, you will lose access to the files stored in your OneDrive for Business 120 days after you graduate.

If you want to continue using OneDrive for Business after you leave CSULB, prior to separating you must:

  1. Back up the data in your CSULB OneDrive for Business.
  2. Purchase your own Office365 subscription
  3. Restore the data you backed from your CSULB OneDrive for Business to your new OneDrive for Business
