Jazz trumpet student at Cal State Long Beach wins national award

Long Beach State University jazz trumpeter Cade Gotthardt was among 11 collegians awarded with the Yamaha Young Performing Artists award this year.

“I was totally surprised,” Gotthardt told the Long Beach Press-Telegram, which covered the award. “I applied to it and knew it was a big deal. People who have won in the past are big names, but I didn’t think I had a chance.”
