Cal State Long Beach has been rated as the 10th-best public university in the nation according to new rankings released by Money magazine.

The publication’s “Best Public Colleges” list was developed through an assessment of median standardized-test scores of new students, tuition costs, financial aid awards and the percentage of students receiving aid. Also taken into consideration was average student debt and early-career earnings.

“This ranking shows what we at The Beach have long known -- that ours is a top educational community that transforms lives and empowers our graduates,” said President Jane Close Conoley. “Students and alumni can be as proud of the amazing educational experience offered by our faculty and staff as we are of their countless achievements.”

The university also placed No. 12 on the “Most Transformative Colleges” list, which assessed institutions on graduation rates, graduate earnings and student-loan repayment. The university was No. 13 on the “Best Colleges in America by Value” list.
