David Evans is a graduate of San Diego State University, holding a Music Performance Degree with Distinction. He also holds a Masters Degree in Music Performance from California State University, Northridge, where he was elected a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society.
Mr. Evans has been involved in music education for the past thirty years including elementary, secondary, and university levels. He is currently a professor of music at California State University, Long Beach.
He has studied conducting with Dr. Frederick Fennel and Lawrence Christianson. He has been a guest clinician for the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association and the California Association for Music Education, as well as a guest conductor for numerous honor bands throughout Southern California.
As a trumpet performer, Mr. Evans has studied with James Stamp, Uan Rasey, Claude Gordon, and Thomas Stevens. He has performed with the Los Angeles Brass Society, the San Diego Symphony and Opera Orchestras, and the San Diego Brass Quintet. He has been a guest clinician and recitalist for the Gordon International Brass Symposium and is a member of the International Trumpet Guild.
Mr. Evans spends his summers teaching for the Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts as Director of the Symphonic Band, Trumpet Instructor, and coordinator of the Chamber Music Program for the Idyllwild Arts Festival Program.
