Child and Family Center
Open House Set for April 1

The Child and Family Center, located in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, invites you to its annual open house on Friday, April 1, in Room 108/110, from 1-4 p.m. The center operates a student teacher demonstration program and provides child care for campus employees.

The Child and Family Center program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The open house provides current faculty and staff an opportunity to pick up applications for the Fall 2005-Summer 2006 programs. Applications will be accepted through April.

Program displays will be set up demonstrating curriculum from the center's educational program. Toddlers (2-3 years old) should be 2 years old by September and Preschoolers (3-5 years) should be 3 years old by September. Tours of the classrooms will also be provided to interested parents.

For more information on the toddler program, contact is Les Melton 562/985-7498, and for the preschool program, contact Jo Ann Bernard or Nancy Ottinger 562/985-8500.

A gift basket silent auction also will take place during the hours of the open house and the winner need not be present. Parents have donated trips, dinners and theme baskets for the auction. Proceeds from the auction benefit the maintenance of the center playground.
