Alumni Grants Program Recipients
The CSULB Alumni Association awarded a total of $35,300 in grants to nine departments
as part of its annual Alumni Grants Program. In the past 14 years, more than
$230,000 has been awarded through this program.
The recipients will be recognized by the association's board of directors at
a reception on April 7. The list of recipients, how the grant money will be
used and who submitted the proposal are:
Beach Pride Center - for a non-inflatable
Prospector Pete mascot (Chance Decker).
Film and Electronic Arts - for updating and
expanding film and electronic arts' library holdings (Davinia Thornley).
Department of Geological Sciences - for aerial
photography of Southern California's coast and mountains (Bruce Perry).
Kinesiology and Physical Education - for
a multimedia cart (Adam Huber).
University Library – for the completion of
database-driven online tutorial (Tiffini Travis).
Marine Lab - to enhance marine lab outdoor
holding facilities and support field research (Kim Anthony).
Department of Physics and Astronomy – for
astronomical telescopes (Michael Frey and Paul Hintzen).
Senior University - to replace outdated desks
with easily movable folding tables and chairs (Barbara McClinton).
Teacher Education – for a projector and camcorder
(Linda Symcox).
The grants funds are generated from various programs, including an opportunity
drawing, royalties from the CSULB Alumni Association credit card, and proceeds
from commencement flowers.
