Alumni Association Elects New President
Guy B. Heston, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Long Beach Transit, has been elected president of the CSULB Alumni Association for the 2005-06 academic year.
As head of the 28,000-member association, Heston will lead a 20-member volunteer board of directors that generates alumni support for their alma mater through programs, communications and advocacy.
Heston has served on the Alumni Association board of directors since 2001, holding several offices. He has been the association’s chief spokesperson for its advocacy efforts and negotiator for affinity programs. Heston, who earned his bachelor’s in radio/TV/film in 1973 and an MBA in 1987, is the alumni representative on the President’s advisory search committee to select a new campus president for retiring Robert C. Maxson.
Among the programs the Alumni Association sponsors or co-sponsors include the Concerts in the Grove, Homecoming, special alumni events such as at Pageant of the Masters, specialized alumni receptions, and grants and scholarships.
