2004 Toy Drive Results
A total of 1,101 toys were collected during CSULB's seventh annual Cherishing Children Toy Drive in November and December. Following the distribution of toys at the Dec. 8 party on campus for 129 children from foster care facilities and child abuse centers, the remaining (25 boxes of) toys were taken to the American Red Cross and the Long Beach Fire Department for other needy children.
“At the party we had 129 children signed up and with caregivers and volunteers we hosted 189 people,” said Bob Rodgers, multimedia technician in Audio Visual Services who coordinates the program and plays Santa Claus each year. “This year some of our student-athletes came to visit with the children and even played games with them.”
