Koi Auction Set for Nov. 21
This year's Koi Auction will be held at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, on the CSULB campus, Sunday, Nov. 21. The annual Koi Auction, conducted by members of the Zen Nippon Airinkai Koi Club of Southern California and Japanese Garden staff and volunteers, will begin with a preview of the colorful koi fish, also known as carp, at 11:30 a.m. followed by the noon auction. The auction will continue until all the fish are sold or 4 pm.
The koi auction is the perfect opportunity for people interested in owning koi to gain an introduction to the art and science of koi keeping.
Young fish culled from the garden's pond may sell for under $5 while many large koi are sold at reasonable prices.
Attendees receive bidding cards to purchase their koi; and purchasers receive a “Caring for Your Koi” brochure.
Admission to the auction is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for Japanese Garden members, and free for children 12 and under. Proceeds from the sale of university fish benefit CSULB's Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, a nonprofit organization.
