Workshops for Faculty and Staff

The following is a list of upcoming workshops/classes put on through Staff Personnel Services to assist and inform employees in a variety of areas.

Friday, Nov. 12, 9-11 a.m.      
FISH Philosophy for Managers - This workshop will present new options to teach energetic and enthusiastic approaches to customer service and having fun in the workplace. Besides having fun, personal accountability will be emphasized to produce satisfied customers and employees. Learn more about the FISH Philosophy and why so many companies are using it.

Friday, Nov. 12, noon-1 p.m.
Alzheimer's Workshop - Join Dr. Shanti Nilakantan, an internal medicine physician with Talbert Medical Group, in a presentation on Alzheimer's. The incidence seems to be climbing among older adults and Dr. Nilakantan will speak on clinical evaluation/management of Alzheimer's and dementia disease.  

Tuesday, Nov. 16, 9 a.m.-noon
Writing Workshop - Facilitated by Bill Belisle, from Belisle and Associates, this class is designed to help you improve your ability to write effective letters, memos, and reports. You will also learn to identify and eliminate common mistakes in writing and learn to recognize the changes and trends in today's English usage. Come find out the principles of communication and the four guidelines for effective written communication.

Wednesday, Nov. 17, 11 a.m.-noon
Fee Waiver Workshop - Facilitated by Sandy Suh, Staff Personnel Services, this workshop on CSULB's Fee Waiver Program will provide information about fee waiver eligibility for staff or their dependents, fee waiver restrictions, tax issues and staff fee waiver procedures.

Friday, Nov. 19, noon-1:30 p.m.
Adult Children of Aging Parents - This workshop will be held in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, Room 108. Anyone caring for an aging relative or parent is invited to this monthly open forum. Prof. Jeanne Bader from gerontology will facilitate the discussion.
