Make A Difference Day
The planning committee for CSULB's 2004 Make a Difference Day Community Service Project invites the university to participate in this year's National Day of Service with the arrival of Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Volunteers will partner with Rebuilding Together of Long Beach on a home refurbishing project in central Long Beach. Make a Difference Day is described as the most encompassing national day of helping others - a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Participation is open to all. Created by USA Weekend magazine, Make a Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of each October.
The goal is to preserve and revitalize houses and communities by assuring low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly and disabled as well as families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence. The goal is to make a sustainable impact in partnership with communities. While many affiliates provide a year-round service, all affiliates plan and prepare rebuilding projects or other special events each National Rebuilding Day, typically held on the last Saturday in April. For more information on Make a Difference Day, go to www.usaweekend.com/diffday/ or for more information on Rebuilding Together, go to www.rebuildingtogetherlongbeach.org.
