Maulana Karenga, Black Studies, published this year a major work in Black Studies and ethical philosophy titled Maat, The Moral Ideal in Ancient Egypt: A Study in Classical African Ethics. It was published by Routledge Press with a preface by one of the world's most distinguished egyptologists, Professor Jan Assmann of Heidelberg University and it has won the prestigious annual Cheikh Anta Diop International Conference Ankh Award for Best Book in Afrocentric Theory. Also, in May he received the 2004 Peace Education Award for Distinguished Leadership, Scholarship, and Education in Building Bridges Among Africans throughout the World from the Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution at California State University, Sacramento.
