The CSULB Alumni Association and the campus community will recognize the university’s top alumni, students, faculty and staff at the annual Alumni Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 8, at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach. A no-host cocktail reception begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. This year’s distinguished alumni recommended by each college are Greg Escalante, Arts; Joseph Wong, Business Administration; John C. Hernandez, Education; Michael R. Niggli, Engineering; Judy K. Montgomery and Patricia Ploehn, Health and Human Services; Robert J. Gore and Deborah L. Sanchez, Liberal Arts; and Georgia Griffiths, Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Outstanding graduates from each college are Vera N. Meyer, Arts; Katelyn Elizabeth Godfrey, Business Administration; Marc Berkstresser, Education; Christopher Bodziak, Engineering; Roge D.P. Nelson and Brittney Marie Holzinger, Health and Human Services; Terri Marie Iler and Al Herrera, Liberal Arts; Ian M. Evans, Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Nancy Green, Human Resources director for the Forty Niner Shops, Inc., will be recognized as this year’s Outstanding Staff Member. Mohammed Reza Forouzesh, professor in the Health Science Department and Graduate Program director, will be honored as the Outstanding Professor and the President’s Distinguished Service Award will go to Christopher J. Steinhauser, Long Beach Unified School District superintendent.
