The Sylvia Maxson 49er Gold Rush Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, Feb. 4, at Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach. The event is named after Maxson because of her tremendous support of women’s athletics. An associate professor emeriti (English/Liberal Studies) and wife of previous CSULB president Robert Maxson, she is scheduled to be in attendance.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., with a putting contest from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and the tournament beginning with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.
The cost of the event is $175 per person or $700 per foursome, which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, putting contest, tee prizes, opportunity tickets, food and beverages on the course and an awards banquet. The format will be four-person scramble with a shotgun start at noon.
Corporate level sponsorships as well as individual sponsoring opportunities are available with hole sponsor for $125, player and hole sponsor for $275, and a foursome and hole sponsor for $800. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Long Beach State golf and women’s athletics programs.
