Summer Concert Series Moves Into 31st Season

The Alumni Association at CSULB will present the 31st season of its Concerts in the Grove series beginning in July with four Saturday night performances at the Hollywood Bowl-type atmosphere of the campus’ Soroptimist House terrace.

Gates open at 6 p.m. for concertgoers who wish to bring a picnic supper prior to the 7:30 p.m. program under the stars. Admission price is $30.

This year’s dates and bands are:

Saturday, July 21
The Elm Street Band performs vintage Top 40 and popular tunes from the 1940s through the 1970s. If you like Elvis, The Beatles and The Eagles, you will love the Elm Street Band.

Saturday, July 28
Ramfunkshus is a seven-piece group that gets down with dance favorites covering Motown, classic rock and disco. The band displays funky takes on favorites of the ’80s and today.

Saturday, Aug. 18
Tommy Tassi and The Authentics perform many of the popular hits from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

Saturday, Aug. 25
Knyght Ryder, a group from the mean streets of Long Beach, is an 80’s tribute band playing Rick Springfield, Huey Lewis, AC/DC and many more.
