Published: October 13, 2008

Staff members can learn firsthand about the inner workings of the region’s ports during the Staff Supper Club dinner and cruise on Thursday, Oct. 30, sponsored by CSULB Staff Council and the Port of Long Beach.

The cruise boat Spirit will depart promptly at 5:30 p.m. from the dock adjacent to Parker’s Lighthouse Restaurant at Shoreline Village in downtown Long Beach, returning at approximately 7:30 p.m.

C. J. “Mike” Walter, CSULB professor of information systems, will speak on “International Business: Making People’s Lives Better.” Port representatives also will narrate as the boat travels through the Long Beach harbor area.

The event is free and open to CSULB staff members and staff emeriti only. The boat cruise, buffet dinner, soft drinks and the first two hours of parking, will be paid for by the Port of Long Beach. Costs for the cash bar and additional parking are extra. Guests should bring a light jacket.

Reservations are limited and must be made by Friday, Oct. 24 to 562/985-4546.
