Job Fair and Green Vendor Showcase Set for Feb. 18 in University Student UnionPublished: February 15, 2010
On Thursday, Feb. 18, the Career Development Center (CDC) will host Synergy at Work—the Engineering, Science and Technology Job Fair, as well as its second annual Green Vendor Showcase in the University Student Union (USU). Both events are free.
The Green Vendor Showcase will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the courtyard area of the USU and will highlight a university community celebration of sustainable products and services held in conjunction with the Synergy at Work—the 2010 Engineering, Science and Technology Job Fair.
The Green Vendor Showcase will feature more than 20 booths and exhibits, pre-screened based on sustainability guidelines provided by the California State University as well as the City of Long Beach’s guidelines from the Sustainable City Commission, highlighting services, products and information concerning green living and green business. The green event will showcase everything from major renewable energy technologies to everyday products and services, and aims to create an engaging, educational, and empowering view of greener living. This event is sponsored by the University’s Career Development Center.
Last year’s participants included the City of Long Beach, Office of Sustainability; Shred-4-Good, Goodwill Industries; California Conservation Corps and Whole Foods.
Synergy at Work will be held from noon-4 p.m. in the USU ballroom. More than 50 companies and organizations will attend the annual event. Among the list of participants are Northrop Grumman, Coca Cola, the City of Los Angeles, Extron Electronics, and the Raytheon Company.
Prior to the job fair, the CDC will offer several workshops for resumé, interview and job fair preparation, as well as GREEN Week – a weeklong series of workshops specifically geared to “greening your degree”. For more information, and to register for any of the prep workshops, and to view an updated list of attending job fair companies and Green Vendor participants, visit the CDC Web site.
