End of Year Giving to CSULBPublished: December 15, 2009
Many donors to CSULB decide to make contributions at the end of the year to ensure that they will receive the benefits of a charitable tax deduction.
There are several ways in which donors can make a year-end gift to CSULB:
One of the easiest ways to make a year-end gift is to contribute online. To do so, access the online giving site by Thursday, Dec. 31, to make your gift.
To send a check or credit card gift through the mail, print out and complete the Gift-Pledge Form. Send your completed form and along with your check (payable to the “CSULB Foundation”) to:
6300 State University Drive, Suite 332
Long Beach, California 90815
**Mailed gifts must be postmarked by Thursday, Dec. 31, to qualify for a 2009 charitable tax deduction.
In some instances, donors prefer to deliver gifts in person, which can be done at the following address:
CSULB Foundation/Alumni Records
6300 State University Drive, Suite 324
Long Beach, CA 90815
**Delivered gifts must be received by university staff before 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, to qualify for a 2009 charitable tax deduction.
Donors may make a gift by using their credit card over the telephone. The CSULB Foundation accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Development staff will be available to accept your credit card gift during the holiday season. To make a year-end gift by phone during the week of Dec. 26-31, please call 562/985-5299.
Some donors prefer the added tax benefits of giving long term appreciated securities. Stock gifts can be made through Dec. 31, but must be initiated by your broker in sufficient time to clear before the close of business that day. In order to be certain to credit your stock gifts, please e-mail Mary Ann Messing with the name, number of shares, and your contact information prior to initiating your stock transfer.
Your broker will require the following information to affect your gift:
6700 E. Pacific Coast Highway, Suite 170
Long Beach, CA 90803-4217
DTC wire transfer number: 0201
Account number: 425-042-483
The CSULB Foundation represents that it is qualified as a charitable organization and a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit organization (federal ID 95-6106694).
