Academic Advising Center Name Change Aims to Avoid ConfusionPublished: August 17, 2009
The Academic Advising Center has changed its name to the University Center for Undergraduate Advising in an effort to distinguish itself from advising centers in the colleges.
“We believe that changing the Academic Advising Center’s name will better serve students, faculty and staff,” said Marilee Samuelson, director of the University Center for Undergraduate Advising. “A number of colleges have academic advising centers that help students get classes in their major. Our name change will distinguish us from those centers and clarify our service to the campus community.”
The University Center for Undergraduate Advising, located in the Horn Center, helps students meet general education requirements, plan their course schedules, understand academic probation policies, remediation strategies, and course repeat/delete procedures, obtain referrals for campus resources and more.
At this time the name change will only be reflected on the CSULB Web site and the campus telephone directory.
