Gas Department Work Near Campus Traffic Circle

Published: August 17, 2009

The City of Long Beach Gas Department will be performing work on campus through Monday, Aug. 24, to conduct leak testing and repair work on their underground natural gas pipeline running through a portion of the campus. The majority of the work is taking place adjacent to the traffic circle at the end of Beach Drive. The work involves excavating and trenching from the city’s main natural gas line to the main campus meter site.

The second phase of this work will take place at the sidewalk between Nursing and Soroptomist House where the city plans to install a valve. Facilities Management is working closely with the gas company to make sure underground utilities are identified and avoided during construction.

Although traffic will continue to flow through Beach Drive during construction, there may be delays in the area.
