Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Registration Underway for Summer CoursesPublished: June 16, 2014
Registration for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSULB for the summer session has begun, and once again can be done by either mail or in person in the OLLI Office located in the CSULB Human Services and Design Building (HS&D), Room 100, near the corner of Palo Verde Avenue and East University Drive. The summer session will run from Monday, July 7, through Friday, Aug. 29.
OLLI is offering a host of exciting lecture classes this summer, including Preserving Senior Independence (six weeks), Advance Directives, Climate Change, Irish Writers, Ayurvedic Medicine and Topics in Jewish Studies. Returning this session will be Copy Cat Art, Meditation, Opera through the Ages and Taking Better Photos. For those looking to improve their health and endurance, OLLI offers Tai Chi Chih, Senior Yoga, Qi Qigong and Longevity Stick. All the fitness classes will be held in the Life Fitness Center rooms 107 and 110. OLLI computer classes are conducted in a 12-seat state of the art PC and Mac equipped lab by skilled instructors. New computer classes this semester will be Computer Demystified (four weeks) and iPad Apps only.
Current OLLI locations include the HS&D building on campus, rooms 101 and 119; OLLI Downtown at 737 Pine Ave., Suite 202; OLLI Leisure World, 13533 Seal Beach Blvd. in Seal Beach; one at Recreation Park Lawn Bowling Center; and at the Albert Jewish Community Center, 3801 East Willow.
OLLI at CSULB’s annual membership fee of $40 covers the winter, spring, summer and fall sessions and is pro-rated for the spring and summer sessions at $20. Tuition is $10 per lecture class and $35 per computer class. Parking permits are available for a fee.
