Community Issues Forum to Address Race and Youth IdentityPublished: April 15, 2009
The sixth annual Community Issues Forum “Talking About Race: Where Do I Fit In?” will take place on Friday, April 24, at the Pointe in the Walter Pyramid.
The event will serve as a unique opportunity for middle and high school students to discuss race, perceptions of themselves and others, and necessary steps to improve intergroup relations. A stimulating day of engagement, advocacy, and partnership building, the forum will provide an opportunity for students, community leaders, and educators to develop campus-community programs to enhance youth identity and improve race relations.
The annual Community Issues Forum strengthens ties to surrounding communities, promotes discussion about some of the most critical issues in Long Beach and the surrounding communities, and shapes key policy decisions. The Committee for Community Collaboration plans and coordinates the event each year at CSULB.
