OLLI Registration Begins March 11Published: March 1, 2013
Registration for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSULB for the spring session will run from Monday, March 11 through Monday, April 15, and once again can be done by either mail or in person in the OLLI Office located in the CSULB Human Services and Design Building (HS&D), Room 100, near the corner of Palo Verde Avenue and East University Drive. The spring session will run from April 15 through Saturday, June 10.
OLLI is offering a number of lecture classes including new topics—Basic Bowling, Disaster Preparedness, Ukulele Fun!, History of Television, Chinese Art History Survey, Life Strategies, Meditation (four weeks) and others. Returning classes this session will be Escape by Rail; Financial Rules of the Road; Taking Better Photos; Fear Not, I Speake Shakespeare; and many more. For those looking to improve their health and endurance, OLLI offers Tai Chi Chih, Life Strategies, Senior Yoga and Longevity Stick. A new computer class for Windows users this session will be Intermediate Computer + System 8. OLLI computer classes are conducted in a 12-seat PC and Mac equipped lab by skilled instructors.
Currently OLLI locations include the HS&D Building on campus, rooms 101, 105, 119, and computer lab room 100; OLLI Downtown at 737 Pine Ave., Suite 202 and Pine Avenue Theater; CSULB campus archery field, University Student Union bowling lanes; LifeFit Center @ The Beach; KIN Building, Rooms 107 and 110; Alpert Jewish Community Center, 3801 E. Willow Street Long Beach; and OLLI Leisure World, 13533 Seal Beach Blvd., Seal Beach.
OLLI at CSULB’s annual membership fee of $40 covers the winter, spring, summer and fall sessions and is pro-rated for the spring and summer sessions at $20. Tuition is $10 per lecture class and $35 per computer class. Parking permits are available for a fee.
