Deadline for Dorothy de Araujo Memorial Scholarship May 1Published: April 15, 2009
Applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, May 1, for the Dorothy de Araujo Memorial Scholarship for an undergraduate or graduate student whose parents or grandparents are staff employees or retirees of CSULB and its auxiliaries. Students must have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA. Undergraduate applicants must be enrolled in 12 or more units and graduate applicants must be enrolled in 9 or more. Families of faculty members are not eligible.
The $500 book scholarship is given by the Staff Emeriti Association in honor of de Araujo, a CSULB staff emerita and alumna. She worked at the university from 1959-83 and earned her B.F.A. degree in 1992 in drawing and painting at the age of 72. On Sept. 11, 2001, she was on a plane returning to California and passed away in the tragedy in New York City.
