Homecoming 2012….Bringing Home the Gold! is just around the corner. This full day of 49er fun will take place on Saturday, Nov. 10, and staff and faculty members can attend for free.
The Alumni Association will host an Alumni and Friends tent with the campus community, alumni and friends of the university. A Best of Both Worlds Buffet will be served from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., featuring brunch and barbecue selections. Guests in the alumni tent also receive a ticket to test their luck for one of many raffle prizes and commemorative gift.
Game ticket packages are also available and include a meal and a ticket for the men’s basketball game vs. the North Alabama Lions tipping off at 3:05 p.m.
Staff and faculty can enjoy the buffet, the basketball game and volleyball match at 7:30 p.m. that evening against UC Riverside for free as a guest of their vice president and bring guests for just $5 each. Free activities for the whole family will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the homecoming site at Lot 13 at the Walter Pyramid. Sing along with The Emperors who will perform live, visit the Beach Pride Zone and see the University Art Museum, Mobile Science Museum, College of Continuing and Professional Education, Student Recreation and Wellness Center booths or take part in the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden origami frog-jumping contest.
The College of Engineering will display cars, a rocket and pumpkin launcher; the College of Liberal Arts will help you learn a new language; the College of the Arts will premiere the updated CSULB campus model; and the College of Health and Human Services will have tours of their forensic laboratory and of the new LifeFit Center senior gym.
In addition, the Club Sports Arena will highlight a number of the club sports on campus including archery, long board, gymnastics, cheer, ice hockey, rugby, beach bellies and martial arts; and attendees can stop into the Historical Gallery and see more than 60 years of 49er pride history through yearbooks, photos and memorabilia.
There will also be a Vendor Village where a variety of on- and off-campus vendors will display their products; the Student Village where Greeks and campus houses will participate in competitions and races and a tailgate-decorating contest; the Student Activities Zone, open to all and features slam dunk, joust, mechanical bull, caricature artist, airbrush tattoo and carnival games.
