Yes, That’s Snow At The Beach
Published: February 15, 2012The CSULB Ski and Snowboard Club brought 15 tons of snow to campus on Feb. 9 as it presented its Long Beach State Pyramid Rail Jam. The first-ever rail-riding competition in Long Beach featured riders shredding it on the snow-covered stairs on the north side of The Walter Pyramid. Block ice was shredded into snow and blown over the stairs at the north entrance of The Pyramid in the morning and 40 participants began competing at noon using the stair hand rails to show what they can do in both ski and snowboard events, vying for prizes and bragging rights. Competitors included members and alumni of the CSULB Ski and Snowboard Club and members of similar club teams from other Southern California universities including UCLA, USC, San Diego State, Cal State San Marcos and Cal State Fullerton.
