Commission on the Status of Women Seeks NominationsPublished: February 16, 2009
The President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) at CSULB is seeking nominations for its Seventh Annual Advancement of Women Awards.
The Advancement of Women Awards honor students, faculty members including lecturers, staff members and administrators who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the advancement of women.
All women and men who are current members of the campus community are eligible for the award (with the exception of current PCSW commissioners). Pink nomination forms will be distributed campuswide in early February and are also available at the PCSW Web site.
One person from each category is selected and each honoree will receive a plaque and will be recognized at the Spring Women’s Research Colloquium. In addition, the honorees’ names will be included on a perpetual plaque displayed in the Women’s Resource Center.
Nomination packets must include (1) a completed nomination form, (2) a letter of nomination detailing the on-going work that the candidate has done for women and why that work is significant, (3) a personal statement written by the nominee (maximum three pages), and (4) a resume of activities, achievements and awards related to the advancement of women.
In their statements, both the nominator and the nominee should address contributions made by the nominee in as many of these areas as relevant: campus service, community service, scholarly activities and achievements, academic activities and achievements, advising and mentoring, contributions made possible by grants/scholarships, or other contributions not listed above.
The deadline for receiving nomination packets is Monday, March 2, by 5 p.m. Nomination materials should be submitted only in hard copy to the Office of University Ombuds, Foundation Building, Suite 140.
