Employee Discount Program
Staff Human Resources and University College and Extension Services (UCES) are pleased to offer the CSULB Staff Employee Discount Program for UCES Professional Development for non-credit courses and programs. This program entitles CSULB staff employed for six months or more (full-time temporary/permanent or part-time permanent) to a 30 percent discount on select UCES Professional Development courses and programs.

Covered under this program are the Human Resource Management Certificate program, Professional Meeting and Event Planning program, Global Logistics Specialist program, IT Technology and Engineering courses, AutoCAD and UNIX courses, Forensic Science and the High Tech Crime Certificate programs, Senior Level Human Resource Management Certificate program and on-camera leadership courses. Courses in photography, animation and writing for TV are periodically offered.

Professional Development Grant Program
The Professional Development Grant Program, sponsored by Staff Human Resources, provides financial support for any staff employee who wants to pursue job-related and/or skill-enhancing training opportunities. TIME MANAGEMENT / ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
Facilitated by Tricia Webster, this workshop will start your new year off right with tips on goal setting, project management, paper flow organization, dealing with interruptions, and causes and cures for procrastination. All staff members are invited, but space is limited so please register.

Wednesday, Jan. 21 / 9-11:30 a.m.
ILLNESS AND INJURY PREVENTION
This course instructs the participant on the university’s injury and illness prevention program. Included are the university’s responsibilities for safety, the employee’s responsibility for safety, accident reporting and investigation, safety committees, how to report unsafe conditions and a general overview of other district safety programs. Thursday, Jan. 22 / 9-11 a.m.
RECRUITING WITH E-RECRUIT: THE BASICS AND BEYOND
This course offers instruction on how to use eRecruit, the on-line recruiting system used at CSULB. Topics to be covered include creating a Request for Recruitment (RFR), requesting advertising, previewing applicant pools, creating printable applications, screening applicants, scheduling interviews in eRecruit, creating email reminders, rejecting applicants, rating applicants after an interview, and preparing job offers. Additional topics include checking an RFR’s approval status, monitoring the approval process, requesting new positions, changing existing data for a position, exporting applicant lists to Excel, adding and viewing attachments, and viewing committee ratings. The workshop will also cover frequently asked questions as well as various issues users have experienced along with possible explanations and solutions.

PEOPLE SKILLS: BUILDING BETTER RELATIONSHIPS AT WORK
In this workshop presented by Office of the Chancellor learn all about your communication style and how it impacts the success of everyone in your work unit or wherever you interact with others. Four behavioral styles will be identified and demonstrated with special emphasis on the respective strengths and weaknesses of each. In one day, you will be able to recognize the styles of others and adapt your behavior accordingly. There is a fee associated with this workshop. Register at www.TheSource.calstate.edu.

INCIDENT / ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
