In Memoriam: July 2011
Published: June 30, 2011Staff emerita Jeane Bright died Feb. 12. Bright began her career at CSULB in 1969, first as a clerical assistant and then department secretary in the Department of Microbiology.
She was the assistant to the dean for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics from 1985 until her retirement in 2007. Born in Long Beach, Bright attended Millikan High School and Long Beach City College.
She attended many events at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden and the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and church activities.
“Vivian had a passion for the field of aging,” said Gerontology Program Director Barbara White, “and worked closely with Dr. Dorothy Fornia in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences to develop the Gerontology Certificate Program that was established in the mid-1970s.”
