March 13 Marks Beginning Of Daylight Saving Time

Published: March 1, 2011

You will lose an extra hour of sleep on Sunday, March 13, when Daylight Saving Time begins. As always, it’s recommended you turn all your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed Saturday night.

For future reference, Daylight Saving Time begins each year at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March, so that’s when you move clocks ahead one hour. Standard Time begins each year at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November when you move clocks back one hour.

In 2011, Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, Nov. 6.

If you like to plan way ahead, the Daylight Saving Time start/end dates through 2017 are:

  • 2012: March 11 and Nov. 4
  • 2013: March 10 and Nov. 3
  • 2014: March 9 and Nov. 2
  • 2015: March 8 and Nov. 1
  • 2016: March 13 and Nov. 6
  • 2017: March 12 and Nov. 5
