PCSW Seeks Advancement Of Women Awards NominationsPublished: February 15, 2011
The President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) at CSULB is calling for nominations for its Ninth Annual Advancement of Women Awards.
The commission seeks to honor one student, one lecturer or tenured/tenure-track faculty member, one staff member and one administrator. Each honoree will be recognized at the Women’s Research Colloquium on Wednesday, April 13. In addition, each honoree will receive a recognition plaque and the recipient’s name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque displayed in the Women’s Resource Center.
All members of the campus community (except current PCSW commissioners) who have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of women are eligible for the award.
People are encouraged to nominate deserving members of the campus community. Nomination forms will be distributed campus wide in early February and are also available at the PCSW Web site.
Nomination packets must include:
From the nominator:
–A completed nomination form, and
–A letter of nomination highlighting the nominee’s significant activities and achievements related to the advancement of women (maximum two pages).
From the nominee:
–A list of significant activities and achievements related to the advancement of women (maximum two pages), and
–A personal statement of how some of the listed activities and achievements advance women (maximum two pages)
The nominee’s contributions to the advancement of women may have been in one or more of the following areas: instructional activities and achievements, scholarly and creative activities and achievements, campus service, advising and mentoring, and community service and leadership. Contributions that were made in other areas will also be considered.
The deadline for receiving nomination packets is Monday, Feb. 28, by 5 p.m. Nomination materials should be submitted only in hard copy to the Office of University Ombuds, Foundation Building, Suite 140.
