“Money Wise” Financial Workshops Available Jan. 20Published: January 14, 2011
To assist employees in exploring investment options available in the CSU TSA Program, Benefits Services will hold “Money Wise,” a retirement and financial information workshop. The next workshop scheduled are on Thursday, Jan. 20 in the Pyramid Annex Conference Center on campus. There will be like workshops from 10 a.m.-noon and from 2-4 p.m.
Even if you are enrolled in the CalPERS, or PST retirement programs, employees may want to supplement their retirement benefit with additional retirement savings. You can take a step toward securing your financial future with the CSU Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) Program.
The CSU offers a choice of five fund sponsors (Fidelity, ING, MetLife, TIAA-CREF and VALIC) and allows you to manage your own monthly contributions via an online retirement manager system. You can choose to invest in one, two, three, four or all five fund sponsors. If you are already enrolled in the CSU TSA Program then the workshops are an opportunity for you to re-evaluate your monthly contribution amount(s).
Setting aside a portion of your salary now will help you secure your retirement in the future. With a minimal investment of just 50 cents a day, you can take advantage of compounding, which means your money generates earnings as your funds are re-invested over a period of time. Or, if able, you can invest up to the IRS limit, which is set on an annual basis. In addition, there are opportunities to invest beyond the limit if you are age 50 or older, and/or have worked for the CSU for 15 years or more and missed opportunities to invest earlier in your career.
If you are not participating in the CSU TSA Program, you can enroll now. Representatives from all five fund sponsors will present information about their fund offerings, answer questions, and assist employees in selecting the fund(s) to help meet their retirement goals.
Additional workshop dates will be added for 2011. For more information on the CSU 403(b) Tax Sheltered Annuity Program, visit the Retirement section.
Registration is required, seating is limited. To register please access the Current Training Opportunities section. Once you are registered, you will receive an email confirmation. Workshops are held during normal working hours, please ensure that your appropriate administrator approves your attendance.
