Holiday Art Sale Runs Dec. 5-9

Published: December 1, 2010

For more than 40 years, the CSULB Art Department has offered art lovers a chance to purchase unique, creative and personal gifts for themselves and others just prior to the holidays. The artworks showcase the exceptionally diverse and comprehensive programs of the department, the largest on campus.

From photography to fiber, ceramics to illustration, sculpture to metals, jewelry to graphic design, printmaking to drawing and painting — the Holiday Art Sale features something for every taste and every budget. Last year’s sale was one of the most popular in the event’s history.

Prices for individual pieces are expected to range from $5 to $300, depending on the work’s size, the artist’s reputation and the materials and time involved in its creation. Work by both faculty and student artists will be available and portions of the proceeds are directed toward student supply and travel scholarships.

Sale hours are Sunday, Dec. 5 from 4-7 p.m. and Monday-Thursday, Dec. 6-9 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8). Historically, patrons have begun lining up to three hours prior to the opening of the sale to ensure the best selection of these one-of-a-kind objects. Cash, check, Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted forms of payment.

The sale takes place in the CSULB Student Art Galleries between buildings FA 2 and FA 3, near the southwest corner of the campus quad. Parking will be available in Lot 7.
