League of Women Voters, CSULB to Sponsor Candidate Debates

The League of Women Voters and CSULB will sponsor debates for candidates running for the 54th Assembly District and the 37th Congressional District on Friday, Oct. 15 in The Pointe on the university campus. The public is welcome to attend.

The 54th Assembly District debate will begin at 3 p.m. Candidates invited to participate include Bonnie Lowenthal (D), and Martha Flores-Gibson (R). The 37th Congressional District debate will begin at 4:15 p.m.; invited candidates are Laura Richardson (D), Star Parker (R) and Nick Dibs (Independent).

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization dedicated to the principles of self-government established by the U.S. Constitution. The league works to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government. Through its Voter Service the league provides non-partisan factual information on governmental and political party structures and functions, voting procedures, candidates and issues.

The League of Women Voters does not support or oppose candidates or political parties.
