Live Blues on Labor Day Weekend Returns to CSULB with ConcertPublished: September 1, 2010
Live blues music on Labor Day weekend returns to CSULB as the Long Beach Blues Festival presents “The KJazz Blues Bash” concert and a free “family street party” this Saturday beginning at noon in the area of the campus’ Carpenter Performing Arts Center.
Legendary blues guitarist and vocalist Keb’ Mo’ and his band will headline the concert, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Carpenter Center. The concert will also feature blues greats Jon Cleary, Guitar Shorty and Arthur Adams.
The street party will run from noon to 6 p.m. just outside the Carpenter Center and feature live blues performances, food and beverage vendors and a beer garden. Among the performers slated for the pre-concert event are the Deacon Jones Blues Band, Artwork Jamal, Give Me Back My Wig, Bill Magee, and Nancy and the Nightcrawlers.
General admission to the 7 p.m. concert is $55, which includes one year of membership with KJazz and a partial donation to the station. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Carpenter Center box office, online at www.CarpenterArts.org or by calling 562/985-7000.
The Carpenter Center is located at 6200 Atherton Street in Long Beach, between Bellflower Boulevard and Palo Verde Avenue.
