Joshee Selected for Leadership Positions with UPCEAPublished: June 1, 2010
Jeet Joshee, Dean of the College of Continuing and Professional Education at CSULB, has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) for 2010-11. He began his term early April and will serve until April of 2011.
Additionally, he will also serve a three-year term as a commissioner in the association’s International Affairs Commission, a body that tracks trends in international higher education. As a board member Joshee will also chair the Opportunity and Equity Committee of UPCEA. The Opportunity and Equity Committee promotes diversity in its member institutions and it studies and identifies best practices in promoting diversity.
“It is an honor to be selected by my peers from around the country to serve in key leadership roles on this national association,” said Joshee. “As chair of the Opportunity and Equity Committee, I will not only be leading the diversity initiative of UPCEA, I actually intend to learn a lot from my colleagues and other institutions about this important issue. Some of the knowledge I will acquire from this experience will certainly be applicable in our own context here at CSULB.”
Founded in 1915, UPCEA is headquartered in Washington D.C. The association is comprised of 425 regionally accredited member public and private colleges and universities, international institutions and non-profit organization with a significant commitment to professional and continuing higher education. UPCEA has more than 2,500 individual professional members from USA, Canada and a number of foreign countries.
