“Healthy, Wealthy and Wise” Class Continues for Faculty and StaffPublished: November 3, 2008
CSULB is hosting “Healthy, Wealthy and Wise,” a six-week financial and estate planning course that began on Friday, Oct. 3, and continues through Nov. 14. Each class is scheduled on Friday from noon-1:30 p.m. and will be held in the Psychology building, Room 153. The final two sessions of this six-week series will be held Nov. 7 and Nov. 14. Those in attendance are welcome to bring their lunch.
Presented by the Office of Estate and Gift Planning, the classes are open to all faculty and staff, but openings are on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes are free with no obligation and no selling of any kind will take place. In addition, you do not have to attend all six sessions.
The discussion will be led by CSULB’s Susan Berkman, assistant vice president for estate and gift planning; Susan Knopick, director of development for estate and gift planning; and Delia Fernandez, a certified financial planner.
“We are happy to continue providing this series for faculty and staff who want to learn about preparing for retirement,” Berkman explained. “And, while we will be discussing retirement issues, we will also be covering a lot of different areas that will provide participants with general, basic information on estate planning.”
Topics to be covered include retirement investment strategies and plans — 403(b)s, 401(k)s, TSAs, 457s; portfolio diversification – PERS, IRAs, stocks, bonds, funds; tax strategies; and asset protections through estate planning.
