Operations Center Staff
Logistics Section
The Logistics Section’s primary
responsibility is to ensure the acquisition,
transportation and mobilization of resources
to support the response effort at the
disaster sites, and the EOC. Additionally,
if the severity of the emergency requires
mass evacuations, the Logistics Section
will coordinate with the City of Long
Beach, Los Angeles County, and the American
Red Cross for the establishment of shelters
and mass feeding capabilities for victims
and/or responders dependents. Methods
for obtaining and using facilities, equipment,
supplies, services, and other resources
will be the same as used during normal
operations unless authorized by the Director
of Emergency Services or emergency orders
of the University President.
Logistics Section Staff
Logistics Section Chief
The Logistics Section Chief is responsible
to ensure the logistics function
is carried out in support of the
CSU Long
Beach EOC. This function includes
providing communication services,
and resource
tracking; acquiring equipment, supplies,
personnel, facilities, and transportation
services, as well as arranging for
food, lodging, and other support
services as required. Comprehensive
understanding
of the situation plus the objectives
and priorities is required to complete
the following tasks:
- Understand the current situation
- Predict probable resource needs
- Prepare alternative strategies for
procurement and resources
management
Personnel Unit The Personnel Unit is responsible for
obtaining, coordinating and allocating
all non-fire and non-law enforcement
mutual aid personnel support requests
received, providing additional workers
for the EOC, and for managing EOC
personnel issues and requests.
Purchasing Supply Unit
The Purchasing/Supply Unit Leader is
primarily responsible for ordering
personnel, equipment and supplies,
receiving and storing all supplies
for the incident, maintaining an
inventory of supplies, and servicing
non-expendable
supplies and equipment.
Care and Shelter Unit
The Care and Shelter Unit is responsible
for providing care and shelter for
disaster victims and will coordinate
efforts with city and county representatives
and the American Red Cross and other
volunteer agencies and for food and
other hygiene support for responders
(field and EOC). In addition, if required
the University will provide shelter
requirements for responder’s
dependents.
