Campus Emergency Communications

In the event of any emergency or natural disaster, information concerning the status of California State University, Long Beach will be available to students, faculty, staff, parents and community members through the following:

During an emergency, critical information will be available on the university Web site.

CSULB Switchboard, 562/985-4111
Recorded information concerning the university’s status will be available for students, faculty, staff, parents and community members.

Personal Voice Mail, 562/985-5999
In addition to campus status, information pertinent to faculty and staff will be recorded on the university’s Voice Mail System. To access the system, dial 562/985-5999 followed by personal code information.

CSULB Student Residence Halls, 562/985-4156
In addition to campus status, information concerning students living in the residence halls will be available at this number.

Isabel Patterson Child Development Center, 562/985-5942
Pre-recorded information concerning the status of the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center will be available at this number. In the event of a campus closure during the center’s hours of operation, parents will be notified directly. The center’s main telephone number, 562/985-5333, will remain open for parent calls until all children have been picked up.

Child and Family Center, 562/985-7498
Parents with children in the Child and Family Center operated by the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences should call the center directly for information.

KKJZ, 88.1 FM
During an emergency, KKJZ, 88.1 FM, will announce campus status reports at the beginning of each hour. More frequent broadcasts may be added if necessary.

Los Angeles/Orange County Broadcast Stations
CSULB will inform major radio and television stations in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas regarding campus closures and other emergency notifications. The information will be broadcast at the individual station’s discretion.
